This movie was really cool and i have not even seen shining yet But i will soon. Just watched the 3 hour long Director's cut. Worth it. Highly recommended. I barely remember the original film, and I never read the books, but this film did a great job of keeping me hooked in. No boring exposition needed for a film/book that's almost 40 years old. I would argue that one doesn't even need to have watched the original to enjoy Doctor Sleep. Just watch it. It's a bit dark though with the violence.
